Wisconsin Dual Sport Riders Club
Routes we prepared for Wabeno. These routes are legal to ride on a street legal motorcycle. |
The Wisconsin Dual Sports Riders Club is sanctioned by the AMA (American Motorcyclist Association) www.americanmotorcyclist.com. AMA is a 100 year old organization dedicated to promoting motorcycling. The Wisconsin Dual Sports Club has two major events in Wabeno each year; the Ride for Research and the Big Woods 200 Ride. Wabeno has been deemed the Dual Sports Riders Capital of the World!
The Ride for Research raises money for research at the UW Carbone Comprehensive Cancer Center. The 7th annual event, held June 8-9, 2013 in Wabeno, will topple the $100,000 mark of donations to the UW Carbone Cancer Center ( www.uwhealth.org/cancer). This national event brings at least 200 people, from all over the country, to enjoy riding the 250 miles of trails, dirt roads, old logging roads and roadways in a 100 mile radius of Wabeno, on street legal motorcycles ---in just one weekend. On June 7th at 6:30pm, Wabeno’s Firefighters Grounds, research doctors from the UW Carbone Center will speak about their cancer research program. The public is welcomed.
The Big Woods 200 Dual Sport Ride starts and ends in Wabeno, WI. The 2013 event is September 28-29. Riders not only enjoy great off-road riding but great Fall colors as well. Funds raised from raffles and proceeds go to various local charities in Forest County and surrounding counties. The economic impact of each of the dual sport rides, with 200 riders and another 200 friends or guests is between $60,000-$80,000 for local communities.
